Ballroom Bliss!
This week we seemed to have a lot more couples dancing Ballroom than Latin, so we got a much clearer idea of their abilities.
In Ballroom you need precision, good footwork, strength and control in the frame, some softness AND storytelling as well.
- Fleur is an excellent dancer and performer, but I agreed with Shirley, she really NEEDS to get the ballroom fundamentals, like frame and footwork, correct and then she’ll FLY.
- Ritchie really excelled in the Ballroom. I actually like his Ballroom better than his Latin.
- Molly was incredible again. She’s good all round and has everything going for her.
New Ones to Watch
Tyler was GREAT. That jive was my favourite actually! If he can keep going like this, then he may be one to watch. One thing you can see is that he works hard and concentrates but loves it and puts his heart into it.
Ellie S did such a beautiful Waltz that I got emotional.
Some who stood out last week, like Will and Hamza, didn’t shine as bright this week, but it’s only week two. They need to come back with a bang next week to stay in the game.
My General Advice – Always Aim to Make an Impression
Weirdly, the most dangerous place to be is in the middle of the leader board. If you’re amazing and at the top, people vote. If you are at the bottom, people vote for you to help keep you in. You HAVE to be memorable. Whether it’s your actual dancing, a certain step, a costume, a facial expression, or an energy, make sure you stand out.
JOANNE’S TOP 4 – WEEK 2
Molly and Carlos (7) Joyous and amazing to watch. A natural.
Tyler and Dianne (7) Fabulous performance. He has something special
Ellie S and Nikita (6) Exceeded all expectations. Beautiful.
Ritchie and Giovanni (6) Ballroom Boy in the making. Needs to work on his Latin
Did The Right Couple Go?
Both Kaye and Matt had good weeks. Neither of them is a natural dancer. They both went for it. Kaye is more precise and coordinated. Matt is less coordinated but gave more of a performance. Very difficult decision.
So close, as they both went wrong numerous times, but essentially, I agree with Anton. Kaye didn’t quite recover with the performance factor after going wrong, whereas Matt kept the energy up a bit more.
Verdict: This week – Yes
