In January 2023, we surveyed 1,000 bingo players in the UK to get insights into their current gaming habits, average bingo spend, attitudes towards online and in person bingo and much more. Continue reading to see what we’ve learned…

the average deposit amaount is £26.26.
In terms of average monthly spend whilst playing bingo online, the average amount is

The top three favoured brands by the UK bingo players sampled are:
•Gala Bingo (16%),
•Mecca Bingo (13%),
•Sky Bingo (9%).

With regards to user reviews, out of the respondents who play bingo online

Online or In-Person?
- Out of UK bingo Players sampled:
- 15% of respondents only play bingo in-person (e.g., in bingo halls), whereas 45% only play bingo online. However, 40% of respondents play bingo both in-person and online.
- Three quarters (75%) of respondents play other online gambling games, such as slots/casino games.
- In terms of respondent’s preferences for either online bingo or in-person bingo, the bingo players sampled are evenly split, with 32% preferring to play in-person and 31% preferring to play online.
- 37% of respondents had no preference towards either online bingo or in-person bingo

Insight
Out of the bingo players who play bingo in-person:
64% said that they like that bingo halls give them a night out
58% said they like the atmosphere in bingo halls
50% said that they enjoy the shared excitement of play bingo in-person at a bingo hall
Bingo Brands
The top three favoured brands by the UK Bingo players sampled are:
- Gala bingo (16%)
- Mecca bingo (13%)
- Sky bingo (9%)
With regards to user reviews, out of the respondents who play bingo online, 24% said that they impact their decision a lot when choosing an online bingo site 50% said that they somewhat impact their decision.
As for how UK bingo players follow/interact with their favourite bingo brands:

- For those respondents who play bingo online:
- Their average deposit amount is £26.26
- In terms of average monthly spend whilst playing bingo online is £35.25.
- Online bingo players’ favourite payment methods to use when playing bingo online are:
- Debit Card, with 40% saying that this is their favourite payment method
- PayPal, with 33% favouring this payment method
- Bank Transfer, with 8% preferring to use this
Safer Gambling Practices
Out of the UK bingo players sampled:
- 62% are more aware of safer gambling practices now compared to 2021.
- Out of the bingo players interviewed who are more aware of safer gambling practices than in 2021 :
- 24% now set a spending limit in advance
- 17% now treat gambling as an entertainment expense
- And 15% say that ‘Gamble Aware’ advertising has made them a more cautious player
Additionally, over a quarter (27%) are very aware of SafePlay tools and more than half (51%) are somewhat aware of them.
Out of those who knew of SafePlay tools, almost half (49%) do not currently make use of them.
