When Premier Bingo went into administration it looked like it was the end for the site on the High Street in Cowdenbeath. It turns out that the manager of the site and his loyal regular players were not prepared to let that happen.
Site manager of 25 years Thomas Wilson was no prepared to see the end of bingo at the venue and when the hall closed in August he stepped up and took on the lease, while a fundraising page was set up to help with the costs of getting the venue ready to re-open with a new look and a new name.
The new name for the venue will be Shorty’s Social Club – a very personal choice by Mr Wilson – Shorty was the nickname he had for his late mother. He wants a strong family vibe for his club, saying
“The bingo hall was much more than just a place for gambling.
I have been here for 25 years and we had become a family. t is somewhere that people gather and meet and socialise. It’s a place to meet friends and have a good time.
People have also been coming along and helping to re-decorate, clean carpets and generally get the club ready for re-opening.”
The new look club will re-open in October and as well as bingo will feature fun party nights and lots of other forms of entertainment for customers to enjoy.
Well done all and good luck from us at WhichBingo!
