The company behind Merkur Bingo and Merkur Slots is hoping to expand into the sports betting market after establishing a new business division. Merkur bingo halls were previously known as Beacon Bingo and were rebranded under the global Merkur name in 2021. The company also operates an online casino called Merkur Slots, which is also the name of its land-based entertainment venues.
Gauselmann Group has appointed Stefan Bruns to lead its new online and land-based sports betting segment from 1st April 2023. He will also be responsible for the “strategic expansion” of the company’s igaming and virtual slot games offerings and consolidating the company’s “worldwide online gaming activities”.
