Since the National Lottery launched in the UK, it’s been operated by a single company, Camelot. However, the fourth National Lottery licence has been awarded to a different company, Allwyn Entertainment Ltd which will take over the reins in February 2024.
After being awarded the next lottery contract, Allwyn decided that it would aid its transition into the operator role by acquiring Camelot. The acquisition has just been approved by the UK Gambling Commission, and Allwyn has been carrying out a reshuffle in the run-up to the new licence commencing early next year. Camelot’s chair, chief exec, and executive director will be stepping down while the company’s commercial director and chief financial officer will become co-chief executives who will assist the chairman, Sir Keith Mills.
